Book Week!

Easter activities

Resultado de imagen de spot's first easter

Peter Pans had a fantastic time celebrating Easter some days ago. They listened to «Spot’s first Easter» book at storytime and did a great job spoting the Easter Bunny in each one of the pages on the story.  Children had a blast becoming Easter bunnies to participate on a hopping race. Then they created Easter baskets  to go on an egg hunt in the playground, just like Spot had done in the book. Here’s a few photos!!

Working in small groups

A couple weeks ago we completed our third Unit of Inquiry «Home, sweet home». During the course of 5-6 weeks we explored different concepts such as family, connection and responsability. Peter Pans gained knowledge about different families and homes, they also learned new vocabulary (mother, father, sister, brother, baby…) to describe their families and the activities they do together.

Children had fun playing in the Home Role-play area and enjoyed using different family member toys in our Wood house in the small world area. They learned new songs , completed puzzles with pictures of families engaging in different activities and used the iPads to explore different ways of making family members interact on the App My Playhome.

Most of the learning experiences that took place during this Unit of Inquiry were opportunities for  children to explore different activities in small groups as we believe working with 2 or 3 friends promotes social interaction ,conversations and keeps them engaged.

This following short video is an example of small groups activities.
